Engineering Manager

Delft, Full-Time (40hr / week)

The Company

FLASC has developed a proprietary Hydro-Pneumatic Energy Storage (HPES) technology, designed to work seamlessly with offshore renewables to enable a stable and reliable supply of clean energy. This patented technology has been internationally recognised and is uniquely positioned in the offshore energy market. The company was recently selected for the prestigious EIC Accelerator, which will provide funding for our qualification program. We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic Engineering Manager who is eager to spearhead FLASC’s project implementation and enable a real impact on the energy transition.

The Role

The role is focussed on implementing key technical steps within FLASC’s development plan, working closely with the engineering principals, the CTO and the CEO. Your primary focus will be executing an onshore qualification program that will enable larger offshore deployments as the company rapidly scales up in the coming years.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Project Implementation: Responsible for the safe and quality delivery of Engineering, Procurement, manufacturing, Commissioning and Start-up activities of critical early projects, including the development of an Execution Plan, the implementation of business processes, resource management and coordination.
  • Schedule and Budget Management: Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budgetary constraints.
  • Team Leadership: Manage an engineering team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure project success and team development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders such as suppliers, subcontractors, and certification bodies, fostering positive relationships and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Risk Management: Proactively anticipate potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication across the project team, the organization, and external stakeholders, including reporting of performance metrics and progress, ensuring alignment with objectives and priorities.

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  2. Experience & Track-Record: Proven experience in managing engineering teams, procurement sub-contracts and delivering projects with a multi-disciplinary hardware scope. (e.g. prior experience as a package manager within a larger project).
  3. Willingness to Travel: domestically and internationally as needed to meet with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  4. Decisive & Autonomous: Self-driven to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible mindset to meet targets.
  5. Communication: Clear, efficient, and organised communication in English (spoken and written), with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Basic Dutch proficiency (spoken & written).

The following are not essential but considered favourably:

  • Industry Network: Established knowledge of potential suppliers and contractors relevant to FLASC’s development.
  • Experience in the use of scheduling software, MS Project or similar.
  • Formal project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP or similar).
