PowerBundle
Project Date: 2022
Location: United Kingdom
Subsea 7 and FLASC B.V., were awarded a grant from the UK government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as part of the Longer Duration Energy Storage (LODES) Competition. The funding was allocated to first-of-a-kind storage technologies, in preparation for deployment in the UK energy system.
The PowerBundle concept combines FLASC’s proprietary Hydro-Pneumatic Energy Storage (HPES) technology and Subsea 7’s proven subsea pipeline bundle technology, resulting in a scalable and robust offshore energy storage solution.
The project comprised a detailed FEED of a fully-subsea pilot system, including permitting and consenting aspects, as well as wider market assessment and development of a commercialization plan.
